1. About OOAK Dolls

I have been producing One of a Kind dolls for several years now; I work in 1/6th scale ONLY - these are dolls which are slightly smaller than the common ‘Barbie’ size, being about 11 inches/27cm tall.

I work primarily with Obitsu dolls, a Japanese brand which produces blank, plastic doll bodies and heads which are one of the most customisable, poseable types available. My dolls are sourced from Junkyspot. I have also worked with BBi Cygirl products for one of my dolls and plan to work with Volks when I can get my hands on them, something which is fairly difficult for someone in the UK.

Most of my dolls are entirely customised - I buy blank bodies and heads, and add in hair, face painting and body details such as freckles, scars etc. I use several different things to simulate hair including actual doll hair (Katsilk Saran doll hair from RestoreDoll) as well as other things such as yarn. Face-up is done in acrylic paints and sealed with matt fixer.

I also construct costumes in the 1/6th scale, based on the shape and scale of Obitsu bodies. I use many different methods of constructing and designing doll clothing, including working from actual scaled period patterns. Some of these may occasionally be for sale.
